Nick, Thank you for your update. Four years ago when this tag was created it was under the management by Oxford City Council.

Not managed by Oxford City Council. All allotments in the city are under devolved management by Associations managing land rented from the City Council.

I canneverrecall it being referred to as theElephant House. It's shape more resembles that of a dinosaur and as such is reputed to be behind the origins of the famous graffiti written on the adjacent wall during part of the elongated planning process for the Hayward and De Breyne quads.........these being the correct names of the buildings.

The centre and North Oxford is incredibly beautiful. Unfortunately, and speaking as someone who works in the city, the rest of it is awful, ugly and in desperate need of development. The traffic infrastructure around the city is completely inadequate for a modern city with such a history of education and learning.

Believe me the undergrads are fortunate not having to pay at least £1000 more to live in a run-down house in Cowley for a year! The quality of the apartments is better than average for student accommodation in my experience

Part of the TV series "Bad Girls" scene was shot from the outside. The wall facing the ground within the walls is where the famous outside shots of the prison were taken.
